Introducing WP Mission Control’s innovative Secure Website Badge service for WordPress sites. The Secure Website Badge service offers a compelling way to enhance your WordPress site’s reputation, trust, and security by providing a link to a public status page that showcases your site’s health and security. More than just a visual symbol, this badge is a testament to your dedication to maintaining a robust and secure online presence.

Why is it crucial to Display the Secure Website Badge?

Displaying the Secure Website Badge on your website offers several significant advantages:

Increased Visitor Trust: The WordPress Secure Website Badge signals to your visitors that your site is actively monitored and well-maintained. This transparency builds confidence, encouraging users to engage more with your content and services.

Enhanced Credibility: You demonstrate professionalism and reliability by showing that your site adheres to high security and performance standards. This can be particularly reassuring for e-commerce sites, membership sites, and any platform where users share personal information.

Improved User Experience: Knowing that a site is continuously monitored and issues are promptly addressed can lead to a better user experience. This assurance can reduce bounce rates and increase user retention.

Proactive Issue Management: The Reputation Badge is not just a static symbol. It reflects real-time data, meaning any potential issues are promptly communicated, allowing for quick resolutions and minimal disruptions.

What Does the Public Status & Security Page Display?

The public status page, accessible through the WordPress Secure Website Badge, provides comprehensive insights into your site’s health. Key indicators include:

  • Uptime Statistics: Displays the percentage of time your site has been operational, giving visitors confidence in your site’s reliability.
  • SSL Certificate Status: Shows the current status and expiration date of your SSL certificate, ensuring that your site’s data transmission is secure.
  • Core File Integrity: Monitors WordPress core files for unauthorized changes, indicating whether your site is free from malware and other security threats.
  • Performance Metrics: Includes response time and load time statistics, helping to demonstrate that your site is optimized for quick and efficient access.

Backlink to Your Site: The public status page ensures a valuable backlink to your website, which can enhance your site’s SEO performance and drive more traffic.

How the Website’s Health and Performance Grade is Calculated with WPMissionControl

Each metric contributes to the final grade, which is presented as an easy-to-understand score on the public status page. The calculation ensures a comprehensive assessment of the site’s overall health and performance, providing a clear picture for both site owners and visitors.

Uptime Percentage gives 0 for up and 5 points for down: This measures the amount of time your website is operational and accessible. A higher uptime percentage indicates better reliability and availability.

Downtime Incidents: If there are more than 5 incidents, each one adds 0.0005 points. We keep track of both the number and duration of these incidents. Frequent or prolonged downtimes can significantly lower your overall health grade.

Certificate Validity adds 0 points: The status of your SSL certificate, including its validity and expiration date, is monitored. An active and up-to-date SSL certificate ensures secure data transmission.

Certificate Errors/Invalid/absent adds 5 points: Any issues or errors with the SSL certificate can lower the health grade, as they pose a risk to secure communication.

Core File Integrity & Other issues have a weight of 0,05 points: Regular scans ensure that core files match the official WordPress versions, maintaining the site’s security.

Calculated together, these points provide insights into the website’s overall status, resulting in the following summaries:

Not Monitored

Outstanding:
0 – 3 points

Excellent:
3 – 5 points

Good:
5 – 10 points

Poor:
10 – 15 points

Dangerous:
> 15 points
